It is difficult to discern the borders of Sharjah Heritage Area, as urban developments of the past 40 years have blurred its boundaries. 

In the 11th Sharjah Biennale, KGDVS designed three enclosed palm-tree gardens to reintroduce the density of the heritage area into the urban fabric. Surrounded by steel mesh, each garden creates public spaces related to its surroundings, and builds on the “Arish” perimetered gardens which used to line the city’s shores.
