In the center of Bahrain, a limestone quarry is depleting. Over the past 40 years, the Askar quarry has served the island's rapid infrastructural growth, its crushed stones used as aggregates and bases for new roads and land reclamation.

The Jeeri Benches near Bu Maher Fort co-opt this extraction process; the seats are carved out of the raw quarried boulders with minimal cuts. These benches act as artifacts of the island's depleting material.
